How to Celebrate Valentine’s Day in 2021

February is here and love is in the air. Time moves really fast and well this time last year, things were a lot different than they are now. That is, the first pandemic case had not been reported in Kenya and the word had not shut down, at least most of it hadn’t. This year though, you might be wondering what to do for Valentine’s considering the curfews and several restrictions in place. Then again, even without these, some people still struggle to find the perfect Valentine’s plan.

Here are some romantic ideas on how to celebrate Valentine’s that could help you out:

1. Plan a romantic getaway

A romantic getaway for two always works when it comes to Valentine’s. It provides a great opportunity for you to get away from everything and escape to a place where your focus will be on each other. You both get to unwind, reconnect with each other and remind yourselves of why you two fell in love. You will be able to think of your relationship far from interruptions and of ways to grow even stronger since Valentine’s is mostly about that. Just make sure you go to places that are currently operating under strict COVID guidelines.

2. Plan a dinner out for two

Whether you are staying in town or going away for Valentine’s a romantic dinner also works. It’s a great way for you both to have uninterrupted quality time together. Besides, several places will have offers for couples that you could take advantage of. For example, Ziwa Bush Lodge has a great Valentine’s dinner offer where you only pay Ksh. 2950 for a dinner for two and you get a free bottle of wine. A romantic dinner allows you to take in the beauty of the night and celebrate under the stars. You just have to get there early enough so that you leave before you’re caught outside past curfew time.

3. Gift your loved one

Another great thing you can do to celebrate Valentine’s day is to gift your loved ones. Obvious gifts would be roses, chocolates, watches, and perfumes. However, you don’t have to be as obvious. Think outside the box and get your significant other something else that you know they like or need. Several people have been experiencing tough financial times because of the pandemic and if you are one of them, your gift doesn’t have to be extravagant as it’s the thought that counts.

4. Spend a cozy evening indoors

While being away on Valentine’s or dining out might seem like the most romantic thing to do, it might make more sense to stay indoors as we are in the middle of a global pandemic. How about cooking your favorite dishes, and setting up your dining area romantically. Incorporate some candles and roses, if you can, add a gift. You can also watch some great romantic movies, or play some games. It’s all about quality time. The best part is you don’t have to worry about curfew while you’re indoors.

5. Plan a picnic

If you’re worried about being out too long in the evening because of curfew hours, how about celebrating Valentine’s Day this year during the day. A picnic should work. Picnics make for the perfect romantic afternoon plan. Pick a great location for yours and dress up for it. Enjoy some great food, drinks and company outdoors.

While those are five great ideas on how to celebrate Valentine’s Day in 2021 for people in relationships, you shouldn’t feel left out if you are not in one. Valentine’s Day was originally meant for people in romantic relationships but love is not limited to them. Take time to celebrate yourself and your love ones. You can actually still do the above with your friends and have the time of your lives. Better yet, treat yourself and enjoy your own company.
